How To Install M8 Cam Bearing ?

WARNING: please start to work refers to the instructions, keep safe-glasses on and disconnect the negative cable on the battery

  • Refer to H.D Service Manual for removal of cam and tappets.
  • Lubricate threads and screw the threaded bolt into the support plate
  • Thread the docking tool onto threaded bolt then install the installer onto the docking tool.
  • Place the new cam bearing onto the cam bearing installer tool.
  • Apply a small amount of pressing lubricant to the outside diameter of the new bearing.
  • Install the assembled tool set with bearing onto the engine case using four thumb screws ,The square formed by the four holes faces right and the smaller hole towards the bottom of the case as the picture.
  • Carefully turn threaded bout inward until bearing aligns in the bore.
  • Tighten threaded bolt until the tool touches the engine case. Bearing is now correctly located below the case surface.

How To Remove M8 Cam Bearing ?

  • Refer to H.D Service Manual for removal of cam and tappets.
  • Lubricate the threads on the Puller, with light machine oil, Position the flanged end over the cam bearing and tap until seated with a soft hammer Light strikes only!
  • Insert the Pin into the center of the Puller, until fully seated.
  • Carefully place the support plate, The square formed by the four holes faces left and the bigger hole towards the bottom of the case as the picture. Align the unthreaded hole with the end of the Puller , and guide the Puller, through the hole
  • Align the four holes with the cam chest screw holes as the picture. Install the Thumbscrews and tighten hand tight only.
  • Place the Washer over the Cam Bearing Puller, then screw the nut down until hand tight against the Washer
  • Place a 9/16″ wrench on the hex end of Cam Bearing Puller, to hold it in place. Using a 1-1/8″ wrench, slowly turn the nut clockwise until the bearing is removed.
  • Remove the tool and old bearing.
